Prior to their Carabao Cup match, Liverpool’s striker Kelechi Iheanacho has issued a warning shot to Leicester City.

For their third-round match on Wednesday night, Enzo Maresca’s team will go to Anfield.

Six of their first seven Sky Bet Championship games have ended in victories for Leicester City, who have had an outstanding start to the year.

At the front of the table are the Foxes as well.

The previous Carabao Cup matches this season against Burton Albion and Tranmere Rovers were easily won by the former Premier League champions.

Iheanacho believes they can defeat Jurgen Klopp’s team despite Liverpool being a different challenge.

Iheanacho stated on the club’s official website, “We’re excited.

“We are familiar with Anfield. The ambiance is fantastic. We go there to compete; we don’t go there for the setting.

“We faced them in preseason, and right now we’re doing well. Games are being won by us. Though it’s a cup game, we are familiar with their nature. They have a solid team and have performed well in the Premier League this year.

“They’ll be strong for us, but we have to work extremely hard to win. Let’s see what happens when we do that, which hopefully we will do. They do excellent pressing. That is something else that requires caution.

We’ll make an effort to play them, but we recognise their strength.
