” The Barrot arrived in Beirut on Sunday, becoming the first diplomat to visit Lebanon since Israel expanded its attacks on Hezbollah positions. Mikati added that “the priority is to apply UN Security Council Resolution 1701,” which ended the war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006. The French envoy’s visit came as a deadly attack hit a building in the center of the Lebanese capital.

Israeli military attacks were focused mainly on Hezbollah strongholds in the south and east of the country, and south of Beirut.
