Rep. Akin Rotimi, a member of the House of Representatives who serves as its spokesperson, has denounced the barbaric killing of Módpé Atanda, a student at the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
This information can be found in a statement Rotimi released on Thursday in Abuja, where he called for a thorough investigation into the murder in order to bring its perpetrators to justice.
According to NAN, Atanda, a student in the institution’s 200-level programme, had gone to study on the evening of September 4 but afterwards went missing.
The missing student was later discovered dead in a small grave on campus, according to university authorities, on September 6.
The legislator, who represents the Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency in Ekiti North 1, urged the Ekiti government, relevant security agencies, and community stakeholders to work together to find the criminals and hold them accountable.
In order to honour the legacy of the late Atanda, Rotimi added, “We owe it to all residents in our communities, including our students, to ensure their safety and security as they engage in their lawful activities.”
He urged anyone with relevant information to get in touch with the Nigeria Police Force so they could aid their inquiries.
The congressman declared, “Justice can be speedily served and a sense of security may be restored through the combined efforts of the community.
