After 45 of the 48 ministerial nominations were confirmed in plenary, the Senate President named the committee chairs.

New chairs of a few standing committees were revealed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Monday.

Following the confirmation of 45 of the 48 ministerial nominations during the day’s plenary session, the Senate President named the committee chairs.

Some of the senators nominated to chair committees included the president of the Ninth Senate, Ahmad Lawan (Defence), Aminu Tambuwal (Housing), and Adams Oshiomhole (Interior), a former governor of Edo State.

Also appointed were Sen Godiya Akwashiki (Airforce), Buhari Abdul-Fata (Aviation), Osita Izunaso (Capital Market), Cyril Fasuyi (Establishment), Seriake Dickson (Ecology/Climate Change), Petroleum Downstream (Jide Ipisagba), Aliyu Wadada (Public Account), Shehu Kaka (Special Duties), Patrick Ndubueze (Works), Solomon Adeola (Appropriations), Musa Sani (Finance), and Abiru Tokunbo (Banking).

Isa Jubril, Elisha Abbo, Victor Umeh, Lawal Usman, Akintunde Yunus, Ibrahim Bomai, Sani Abubakar, Banigo Harry, Abubakar Yari, Enyinaya Abaribe, and Aliyu Wamakko were also named as the new chairmen for the departments of customs, culture and tourism, environment, health, power, and local and foreign debts.

Adamu Aliero (land transportation), Daniel Olugbenga (navy), Barinada Mpigi (Niger Delta), Mohammed Monguno (judiciary), Yemi Adaramodu (youth and sports), Ireti Kingigbe (women affairs), Orji Kalu (privatisation), Mustapha Sabiu (agriculture), Aliyu Bilbis (communications), and Asuquo Ekpenyong (NDDC) are additional members.

The most recent announcement comes after the Senate President already revealed the chairs of the standing committees.
