L-R: Former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje (L), Governor Hope Uzodimma (C) and Senator Godswill Akpabio (R) at the State House in Abuja on Monday, June 12, 2023.

Akpabio’s acceptance transcends party lines, according to the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.

Less than a day before the start of the 10th National Assembly, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, claims that Senator Ahmad Lawan, the departing president of the Senate, has agreed to work toward the election of Senator Godswill Akpabio to that position.

This was said by Uzodimma on Monday after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on June 12 Democracy Day in a conversation with State House reporters.

Akpabio, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) preferred candidate for Senate President, has expressed his confidence that he will win on Tuesday.
