At the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State, he apparently passed away from diabetes.
The Oyo prince, who had reportedly been unwell for some time, ran for the Peoples Democratic Party’s Oyo Federal Constituency in 2019 but was defeated by his brother, Akeem Adeyemi, also known as Skimeh, who was re-elected for a second term.
During his first term, the state governor, Seyi Makinde, named him as the chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Pension Board.
He passed away on Friday following a lengthy illness, according to a palace source who wished to remain anonymous.
He confirmed, “Yes, he passed away this morning. In addition, a lot of others have contacted to confirm his passing. When I got the news, I was also weak. Today, his brother Akeem Adeyemi, a member of the House of Representatives, celebrates his birthday separately.
“I was with him on the day that his brother Akeem, also known as Skimeh, handed N50,000 to 500 individuals as part of an empowerment campaign. We took a seat together. Unaware that he was bidding farewell to all of them, he was even the one who gave the sermon that day. It’s really depressing and painful,” he moaned.
