Security adviser Ribadu warns Lakurawa, stating that challenging President Tinubu is a miscalculation that won’t end in victory.

Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, has cautioned the emerging Islamic sect in the North-West called Lakurawa that their involvement in terrorism will not be tolerated and must cease immediately.

At the opening ceremony of the Comptroller General of Customs Conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Ribadu confidently asserted that challenging President Bola Tinubu would not go unpunished.

The NSA asserted that the terrorist group has chosen an inopportune moment to act, as Tinubu is currently in power. He vowed they would be expelled from Nigeria.

The Defense Headquarters announced last week that a new terror group called ‘Lukarawas’ has emerged in the Northwestern states of Sokoto and Kebbi.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated that while the new terror group is worsening insecurity in the North-West region, the Nigerian Armed Forces are already taking steps to contain them.

Troops are facing a new terrorist group in the Northwest known as the Lukawaras. This sect is linked to terrorists from the Sahel, particularly those from Mali and beyond.

General Buba stated, “They initiated incursions into the northern region of Nigeria, specifically targeting Sokoto and Kebbi states. As I mentioned earlier, their entry point was from the Niger and Mali axis.”

He mentioned that the new terrorist group originated from Mali and the Republic of Niger following the coup, which resulted in a collapse of military cooperation between Nigeria and Niger.

The military also announced that nine terrorists are being sought for their involvement in the nation’s security challenges.
