Lagos will close any noxious bars, churches, or mosques
The Lagos State Government has made it known that it intends to close down any businesses, churches, clubs, mosques, and bars that are disturbing the state’s natural environment.
Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, disclosed this information in Lagos at a management meeting with Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the recently appointed General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), and directors in the organisation.
The commissioner stated, “I charged them to examine their operational strategy in accordance with recognised global best practises.
“I have also ordered the zonal directors, monitoring and enforcement units to start strict enforcement and advocacy by closing any public venue (bars, churches, clubs, mosques, companies, among others) generating environmental nuisance throughout the state.
Wahab said, “This complies with the Lagos State Environmental Management Protection Law.”
