Lagos was chosen as the new headquarters for the benefit of Nigeria – FAAN

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced on Thursday that it has relocated its corporate headquarters from Abuja to Lagos in order to reduce expenses.

The decision was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Kayamo, to prevent the wastage of public resources.

The relocation was agreed upon by the FAAN management, stakeholders, and unions, as they believed it was in the best interest of the authority and the country.

Those affected by the move have returned to Lagos since there was no office space for them in Abuja. The FAAN will be responsible for paying them DTA (Daily Travel Allowance) as they are technically working out of station.

The majority of FAAN’s activities are in Lagos due to the high passenger volume at the Lagos airports. The Minister has plans to have concessionaires build suitable offices for the Authority in both Lagos and Abuja. Until then, the authority will continue to use its old building in Lagos to accommodate its directors and senior officials.

The operational offices in Abuja will remain unaffected, and a final decision on the location of the corporate headquarters will be made in the future when appropriate buildings have been constructed in both cities.
