The Lagos State Labour Party (LP) has expressed its worry on the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s decision from Monday.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, the party’s state publicity secretary, Olubunmi Odesanya, stated as much.

Odesanya, however, urged party members to maintain their composure while the party persisted in seeking justice.

“We heard the verdict of the Lagos State election tribunal delivered yesterday, September 25, with utmost dismay,” she remarked.

“We ask our thronging supporters to maintain their composure while we pursue the next course of action.”

She said that as law-abiding citizens, LP Candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) and the LP in Lagos State had given the party’s legal staff the go-ahead to study the ruling in order to appeal it to the appeals court.

According to Odesanya, the party firmly believes that despite the abuse and intimidation directed at its followers, it won the election.

“This postponed justice will be correctly restored when the time is ripe.

The majority of Lagos citizens have been wronged, she declared, and “our party will investigate all legal means” to make amends.

Remember that the tribunal confirmed on Monday that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, had won the March 18 general election.

In a unanimous ruling, the three-member panel headed by Justice Arum Ashom dismissed the two petitions submitted by the PDP and its candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, and Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the LP.
