Commercial motorbikes, or “okadas,” are prohibited from operating on major highways by the Lagos State Government, according to Obasanjo News24.

Since Lagos is so near to Ogun State, it has been challenging to implement the ban on Okada throughout the state, according to Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, Director of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Task Force. This was reinforced in October.
“Some Okada riders use the neighbouring state as camouflage whenever we want to arrest them,” he said, referring to Ojodu’s border town status. We would not want to go outside our bounds, thus this has been impeding our work in that sector.
“While we work to alleviate the congestion, we will make every effort to develop an alternative strategy.”
