Lagos State Hospital Discharges 32 Survivors of Train Accident

A total of 102 casualties were reported, according to the health commissioner, who spoke to reporters at a news conference on Friday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

After Thursday’s collision between a train and a staff bus in the state’s Ikeja district, Prof. Akin Abayomi, the commissioner for health for Lagos State, reports that 32 patients have been released from the hospital.

102 injuries were reported, according to Abayomi, who spoke to reporters at a news conference on Friday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

He claims that there are still six dead, while 19 people have been released from LASUTH, five have been treated at the State Accident and Emergency Centre at Old Toll Gate, and eight have been treated at Orile-Agege General Hospital.

He stated that 40 units of blood were transported today for the casualties, and 256 units of volunteer blood were received on Thursday from citizens of Lagos State.

It is significant to note that no further individuals have died as a result of this tragedy since around 12 o’clock yesterday. Thus, the commissioner observed, “The process of triage was very significant in preserving lives and decreasing the fatality of this heinous catastrophe.

The triage procedure also identifies some of the injured passengers who may be moved to other established general hospitals in Lagos because there are very few institutions in the world that can handle a sudden rush of extremely badly injured patients.

25 less seriously injured patients from four of our general hospitals, according to Abayomi, were moved to Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos Island General Hospital, the Toll Gate Accident and Emergency Centre, and the Orile Agege General Hospital.
