The Lagos Police have talked about the tragic fight with Yoruba Nation protesters that happened on Monday at Ojota.

After the protesters engaged security personnel, there was a noticeable tension in and around the location.

A photograph shared on Twitter showed a young man who was dead. While others are injured, one is believed to be dead.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police public relations officer, released a statement regarding the brutal altercation.

The PRO stated that “miscreants posing as Yoruba Nation agitators” came out in their hundreds and interfered with social and economic activities at Ojota.

He said that in response, police from the Raid Respond Squad (RRS) and the Alausa Division broke up the crowd and stopped law and order from breaking down.

The criminals ambushed the cops, firing at them and wreaking havoc on two vehicles.

“One individual has been officially pronounced dead, and two police officers who were shot by the thugs are currently receiving medical attention. Investigations have started after the arrest of four suspects.

Hundeyin says that the Lagos State Police Command will not let any person or group of people disturb the peace in Lagos.

It’s unclear if the victim was shot intentionally or accidentally.

“They fired weapons and tear gas at us. One protester can be heard shouting in a video, “They have killed one person; this is Ojota.”

A Toyota Hilux that was allegedly driven by a police officer was set on fire. On the highway, there were also bonfires.
