The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) branch in Lagos State praised Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf on Friday for his efforts to protect the historic state’s cultural legacy.

In a statement released in Lagos, the Party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Richard Benson, commended the re-enthronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, as the 16th Emir of Kano, citing his notable preservation of tradition.

Benson also praised Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate and a former state governor, for his efforts to maintain the custom.

“We, the Lagos State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party, hereby express our gratitude for the efforts made by the amiable Governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, our unwavering National Leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the entire Kano House of Assembly to safeguard the people’s cultural heritage through truthful preservation.”

“The majority of the people are happy to see that their tradition and core values are intact, and this is what was just exhibited in Kano to prove that the cultural heritage of the ancient city of Kano is preserved,” the speaker stated.

He continued, saying, “We are thrilled with the efforts to restore and preserve the people’s values, traditions, and heritage as well as the commitment to put everything back in place and restore the ancient city of Kano’s lost glory.”

Benson claimed that certain politicians were using the fundamental customs and cultural heritage of the populace as political footballs in order to gain quick political points.

According to him, the chapter is still hoping for greater advancements to reach Kano, the lone state under NNPP authority.
