Lagos Man on the Run After Allegedly Killing Cousin

The police are searching for a Lagos man who allegedly stabbed his cousin to death and fled the scene, sparking a manhunt.

A tragic event occurred in Lagos State involving a man named Ganiyu Ibrahim, who is reportedly fleeing after allegedly stabbing his cousin, Afeez Akeem, during an intense argument.

The community is in shock following the confrontation that occurred on October 14, 2024.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, a dispute between the cousins escalated into a violent confrontation.

During the altercation, Ibrahim reportedly shattered a bottle and stabbed Akeem in the chest, causing fatal injuries. Although Akeem was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.

In a statement, Hundeyin confirmed the altercation and disclosed that it had been reported by a family member.

On October 14, 2024, at approximately 7 PM, a complainant reported that her son Ganiyu Ibrahim and her nephew Afeez Akeem were involved in an altercation that escalated into a physical fight. During the incident, Ganiyu broke a bottle and stabbed Afeez on the left side of his chest. The victim was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

Although investigators have already started examining the crime scene, Ibrahim took off right after the incident, prompting authorities to pursue him. Meanwhile, the deceased’s family has decided not to request an autopsy and will proceed with burial arrangements in accordance with Islamic traditions.

The Lagos State Police have initiated a manhunt to capture Ibrahim, while investigations continue.

This incident starkly highlights how conflicts can quickly escalate into irrevocable tragedy, prompting authorities to urge the public to report any information that could facilitate the suspect’s swift arrest.
