Lagos International Airport’s “fire guts” area

A section of the Murtala Muhammed Airport’s international wing was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday morning in Lagos State.

Some activities were put on hold as a result of the incident, which happened near the airport’s main gateway.

According to reports, airport staff and customers were quickly evacuated from the damaged structure while firefighters quickly deployed to put out the fire.

In a statement, Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airport Authority, acknowledged the occurrence.

He said that the firemen from the airport’s Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) “have successfully brought the situation under control” thanks to their quick action and skillful efforts.

“The Terminal building was swiftly evacuated due to the smoke that had permeated various portions of the facility in accordance with our steadfast commitment to the safety and wellbeing of passengers, employees and other airport users.

“We are happy to say that things are now under control.

“FAAN remains committed to her core values of safety, security, and comfort”, he said.
