Around the Oniworo section of the busiest motorway in the nation, the accident happened early on Saturday.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway incident claimed the lives of ten people and injured two others, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The accident happened early on Saturday at the Oniworo area, according to a statement from Florence Okpe, FRSC Superintendent, Route Commander, and Public Education Officer for the Ogun State Sector Command.
According to Okpe, the Toyota bus’s driver’s high speed and the truck’s road blockage in the back of the vehicle were the likely reasons for the collision.
A total of 19 people were involved in the collision, although only two of them suffered injuries, according to her.
“Two cars with the licence plate KLD539XA were allegedly involved: a Mack container truck without a licence plate and a Toyota Hiace bus.
According to the FRSC picture creator, the dead were placed in the Ipara mortuary while the injured were brought to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical attention.
Ahmed Umar, the FRSC’s Ogun State Sector Commander, was quoted as feeling “painful” about how “drivers fail to follow simple norms.”
Umar advised caution due to the harmattan haze’s reduced visibility, noting that when the weather is bad, drivers should turn on their headlamps.
He asked drivers to always post caution signs if there is a breakdown on the road, especially truck drivers.
The sector commander expressed sympathy to the victims’ families and instructed them to get in touch with the FRSC Ogunmakin for more details regarding the tragedy.
