Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, has expressed outrage at the ongoing ethnic baiting in Lagos State.

In some areas of the state, the Igbo in Lagos are now being referred to as adversaries prior to the governorship election.

Notwithstanding the fact that many Yorubas and some Igbos are ardent supporters of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), many Yorubas also back Peter Obi and the Labour Party.

In the presidential election, the Labour Party won Lagos State, and some people are worried that the same thing would happen in the governorship elections.

Social media is flooded with videos of threats, and only yesterday, the Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle, was set on fire with accusatory fingers pointing in a specific direction.

Ms. Ezekwesili, a previous presidential candidate, responded on Wednesday, saying that the baiting must cease right away.

“It is quite bad that there is racial baiting going on right now in Lagos.

“Can you imagine dishonest politicians and their sympathisers branding the Igbo as enemies of Lagos? Which is that?

“You’re all spreading such harmful misinformation for petty political gain?”
