In an attempt to lessen the impact of the elimination of the petrol subsidy, Governor Sanwo-Olu declared on July 31 that transport fares for commercial yellow buses and state-owned buses would be reduced by 25% and 50%, respectively, on all routes.
In order to mitigate the impact of the elimination of subsidies, he revealed that the bus fare decrease was scheduled to go into effect on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, and he mentioned the extension of the fleet of staff buses for the Lagos State Public Service employees. According to him, the buses are prepared and will be distributed via the state’s head of service’s office.
