The death toll from the Lagos building collapse has risen to four after emergency responders recovered two more bodies. Rescue operations continue as authorities investigate the cause.

Rescue workers have retrieved two additional bodies from the debris of a collapsed two-story building in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, increasing the total number of casualties to four.

Earlier on Wednesday, emergency responders recovered two bodies and rescued six injured individuals who were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities report that rescue operations continue as they work to ensure no one is trapped beneath the debris.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the Territorial Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the South-West Region, announced on Thursday that two more bodies were recovered from the debris and one man was rescued.

As of Thursday morning, two additional bodies were recovered from the rubble, and one adult male was rescued. This brings the total to four deceased individuals found and 15 people rescued at the scene of the multi-story building incident.

“The building is situated at Oriwu Estate, Elf Bus Stop, inward Ajah on the Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos,” he stated.

Farinloye added that the operation is still in progress and urged members of the public to cooperate.
