Lagos Assembly: Meranda Leads Plenary Amid Tension and DSS Deployment

Meranda takes charge of the Lagos State House of Assembly plenary as tension rises, with the DSS deployed to ensure security during the volatile session.
Mojisola Meranda, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, is currently leading a plenary session at the assembly.
The session takes place despite the presence of officials from the Department of State Services, who had previously sealed both the chamber and office of the Speaker on Monday morning.
The DSS officials, later observed inside the chamber, were physically confronting legislative workers at the exit door.
Earlier, the lawmakers made their way into the chamber around 12:30 p.m., backed by supportive assembly workers.
The situation at the assembly worsens as a leadership struggle unfolds between ousted Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Meranda.
According to Obasanjo News, the Monday morning plenary had not started yet because security personnel have taken control of the assembly complex.
Our correspondent reports that at least 10 police vans are positioned at the assembly gate.
