Lagos: Age-Suleiman winner of APC is declared by Appeal Court, dismissing LP’s Doherty

Olukayode Doherty of the Labour Party, LP was dismissed by the Appeal Court, and Rauf Age-Suleiman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was proclaimed the victor of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Amuwo-Odofin II Constituency election.

The Election Petition Tribunal’s previous decision was maintained by the court.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was mandated by the tribunal to hand over Sulaiman’s certificate of return as the election’s victor.

The court ruled that if a candidate did not fully engage in the election process, they are not eligible to be declared the winner under the Electoral Act of 2022.
