The ongoing statewide strike has been suspended, according to a statement released by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) at their Joint National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The attack on NLC President Joe Ajaero and other unresolved concerns were the reasons behind the start of the strike.

The Federal Government’s intervention through the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) led to the decision to halt the strike.
“The NEC of the NLC and the TUC have suspended the strike,” declared Tommy Etim, National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC, following the meeting.
“We took this action because we trusted National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu to advise us,” the statement reads.
