The Labour Party has suspended an Enugu Senator, citing allegations of anti-party activities and insubordination. The party vows to uphold discipline within its ranks.
The Labour Party (LP) has suspended Senator Kevin Chukwu, the current representative for Enugu East Senatorial Zone, from its membership.
Reports indicate that Senator Chukwu was suspended by the executives of his Amuri ward due to alleged anti-party activities and insubordination.
This was stated in a letter signed by the chairman of the party in Amurri ward and sent to the Chairman of the party in Enugu state via the Local Government Chairman.
The letter released to journalists on Sunday states in part:
The Honorable Senator Kelvin Chukwu,
Notification of Your Suspension from the Labour Party
The Executive Council members of the Labour Party, Amurri Ward in Nkanu West LGA, are formally notifying you, Distinguished Senator Kelvin Chukwu, that you have been suspended from the Labour Party for a period of 90 days. This suspension starts either on the date this notification is issued or when you receive it.
This resolution has been adopted due to your acts of insubordination toward the party’s leadership, engagement in activities against the party, and failure to uphold its principles.
You have missed the chance to present your case, even after numerous requests made to you.
Rest assured that the party’s constitutional provisions are available to you if you choose to invoke them after your suspension.
The letter was signed by Comrade Chika Okoh, representing the Executive Council of the Labour Party for Amurri Ward.
