The Labour Party has committed to bring the case to a conclusion in the Supreme Court following the decision of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday, which dismissed the petition of the Labour Party’s Peter Obi for president.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the PEPT found on Wednesday that the case submitted by Obi, Atiku Abubakar, his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party, and their parties lacked substance and unanimously supported the election of President Bola Tinubu.

The ruling was given by Justice Haruna Tsammani, the tribunal’s chairman, with assistance from the judges on the panel, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Stephen Adah, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.

The Labour Party’s legal adviser, Kehinde Edun, told reporters following the decision that the Supreme Court would further consider the tribunal’s ruling.

Edun characterised the verdict as bizarre, pointing out how the tribunal disregarded the testimony of 10 of the LP’s 13 witnesses.

“There are certain things that we find unacceptable. We must thus wait to hear from the supreme court on this. We must confront this, not only for the benefit of the present but also for the sake of our jurisprudence.

“We want to hear what the Supreme Court judges have to say about all of this. For the sake of tomorrow, it is crucial that this be done, he continued.

The party would challenge the PEPT’s ruling, Diran Onifade, Head of Media and Communications for the defunct Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, said to OBASANJO NEWS24.

Diran responded simply, “We are appealing the judgement,” when asked what would be the next course of action.
