The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has responded to the internal turmoil within the party.
He held a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, addressing various national issues.
Obi assured that the crisis within the party would be resolved peacefully and without any major disruptions.
He emphasized that the issues at hand were not insurmountable and could be effectively managed.
In his statement, Obi compared the internal strife within the Labour Party to mere “child’s play” when juxtaposed with the ongoing conflicts within the APC and PDP. This highlights his perspective on the severity of the situation within the party.

The recent crisis within the LP led to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) leadership demanding the resignation of the party’s national Chairman, Julius Abure.
Despite this, the LP’s National Working Committee proceeded with its national convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, reelecting Abure as the Chairman.
However, the NLC intervened by annulling the national convention that reinstated Abure and his committee.
To address the leadership vacuum, stakeholders proposed the formation of a transition committee that would oversee the party’s affairs until new officials are elected within a three-month period.
This move aims to stabilize the party and ensure a smooth transition of power.
