“Therefore, both the PDP and the APC believed that this individual lacked organisation. He won’t have as much power.”

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, and the “Obidient” movement were often viewed as a joke, according to former information and national orientation minister Labaran Maku.

Former Anambra State governor Obi shocked the country by running as a third-force candidate. The LP candidate, who has a sizable young support, received over six million votes and prevailed in 11 states to place third in the recently held election despite being criticised for lacking a political framework.

But, Mr. Maku acknowledged that the opposition politicians never gave the LP candidate and his followers an opportunity while taking questions on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily regarding the results of the 2023 elections.

Labaran Maku, a former minister of information, states that he and others believed the “Obidient” and Peter Obi wave was a joke.

“As you can see, what happened in the presidential election was that there was this wave of young people, the ‘Obidients,’ who we all took for granted and who we thought of as a joke when Peter Obi was first introduced. During Tuesday’s morning show, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said, “Where would he go?

Therefore, both the PDP and the APC were thinking, “This man lacks organisation. He won’t have as much capacity.

But he insisted that in the 2023 elections, young people showed them all wrong and had a record-breaking turnout.

However, the youth took the initiative away from the politicians. And for the first time, as we observed in Nasarawa, Edo, and other locations as well as in Delta State, the home of the PDP vice presidential candidate, we observed that young people were serious about what they were doing and that they had used social media to project a programme that had shocked the country.

The Nasarawa State PDP chairman acknowledged that the party lost the state’s presidential election to the LP, but he disputed the legitimacy of the governing All Progressives Congress (APCvictory )’s in the gubernatorial election.

According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fabricated the results of the gubernatorial election.
