Oluroju Shola, a medical laboratory scientist, found himself in legal trouble as he appeared before an Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, Abuja, accused of sharing his ex-girlfriend’s intimate photos without her consent.
The charges brought against Shola from Kwamba Suleja, Niger State, included criminal breach of trust, intimidation, and defamation of character, as stated by the Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko.
Tanko explained that the complainant, Barnabas Janet, reported the incident to the Gwagwalada Police Station on April 17, alleging that Shola had violated their agreement by posting private images online.
The court was informed that Shola and Janet had been in a relationship since 2021 and had mutually agreed to keep their private photos and videos confidential.

However, when the relationship ended, Shola allegedly resorted to threatening his ex-girlfriend with the release of these private images, which he eventually did against her wishes.
The prosecutor highlighted that Shola’s actions were in violation of Sections 312, 397, and 391 of the Penal Code.
Despite the charges, Shola pleaded not guilty in court.
The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, granted Shola bail in the amount of N1 million, requiring one suitable surety to stand as a guarantor.
Abdulkarim also mandated that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide valid identification.
The case was adjourned until June 4 for further proceedings.
