Kristofferson died on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the age of 88.
Announcing his passage in a statement on Sunday, Kristofferson`s family said “It is with heavy heart that we share the news of our husband, father, and grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, who passed away peacefully on Saturday at home.

“We are all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these years, and when you see a rainbow, know he`s smiling down at us all.”
Kristofferson`s songwriting career made him a staple in country music, with hits like `Sunday Morning Coming Down`, `For the Good Times` and `Help Me Make It Through the Night`.
The late singer won three Grammy Awards, including one for best country song “Help Me Make It Through the Night” and two duet wins with his ex-wife, Rita Coolidge.
