Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, expressed her appreciation for the efforts made by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in pursuing the prosecution of the immediate past governors of Kogi State, particularly Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for an alleged N80.2 billion fraud.
She also commended the EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyede, for transferring 14 properties that were initially forfeited to the federal government to the government and people of Enugu State.
In response to Bello’s reasons for not attending the EFCC’s invitation, Senator Natasha emphasized the importance of investigating other corrupt public officials to avoid any perception of selective prosecution.

She addressed Bello directly, reminding him of the significance of upholding Nigeria’s laws and constitution, especially considering his previous role as the chief security officer of Kogi State.
It is widely acknowledged that in matters of equity, one must approach with integrity. Therefore, I recommend that he accepts the invitation and proves his innocence while the opportunity still exists.
Additionally, I want to express my gratitude for the EFCC’s dedication in managing the situation thus far.
Every Nigerian should be held accountable under the law, and it is imperative for the agency to pursue this case until its conclusion in order to earn the confidence of both the Nigerian citizens and the global community in combating corruption.
