The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has disassociated itself from an alleged demonstration that happened at the Lokoja, Kogi State, headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement released on Thursday, Isaiah Davies Ijele, Director General, New Media MuriSam Campaign Council/SDP, stated that people stirring up unrest are actually supporters of the ruling party in Kogi State, not the SDP.
According to Ijele, the SDP is a nonviolent political organisation whose core values are pursuing justice by all available democratic avenues and promoting peace.

For this reason, the SDP is turning to the legal system to seek justice. With the exception of the delay brought on by Mrs. Faith Kotso, the Commission’s legal head in Lokja, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been cooperative thus far.
She purposefully prevented our forensic specialists in Lokoja from gaining access to and carrying out the physical inspection of the voting materials, which thwarted all of our preliminary attempts and allowed thugs loyal to the departing administration to openly manipulate the process.
Yahaya Bello is currently posing the greatest threat to our democracy. Kogi state is in a state of anarchy, led by Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello. The electoral materials and the tribunal are no longer secure in Lokoja. The INEC facility would have been attacked and all evidence would have been destroyed if not for the Nigerian Army’s prompt involvement, the speaker said.
