Kogi guber polls: sanction anyone endangering peace – ACF
Anyone who threatens the peace, regardless of their position, should be punished, according to Arch. Gabriel Aduku, Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
The warning is issued before the Kogi State governor’s race on November 11.
In a message to mark the World Day of Peace, Aduku claimed that sanctions were required to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair election and reestablish trust in the country’s democracy. He also claimed that peace was the answer to the country’s development.
In the lead-up to the off-season gubernatorial election on November 11, 2023, the situation in Kogi State is very concerning.
He claimed that the start of election campaigning had been marked by one type of state-tolerated violence or another, endangering the state’s peace and security.
“Recently, cases of intimidation of candidates from other political parties by the ruling APC government in Kogi State have been reported,” he continued.
“This is purportedly being done to prevent qualified candidates from realising their aspirations. In light of the pluralistic nature of our democratic society, this practise ought to be restricted.
