Following the conclusion of the state’s gubernatorial election, Kingsley Fanwo, the spokeswoman and director of media and publicity for the Kogi State All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Campaign Council, declared that the party is prepared for legal action.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday in Lokoja, Fanwo claimed that each vote the APC won in Kogi East represented hundreds of voters who suffered intimidation, injuries, and even had their homes set on fire because of their political convictions.
“You are the real heroes of democracy,” he declared. Since impartial observers from all over the world have described the election as the freest and most peaceful since the establishment of Kogi State, those who waged terrorism on our democracy out of desperation to make the impossible possible are now hopping from TV station to TV station to cry foul and create a different impression. This is the very height of desperation to divert our collective gaze away from the theft they carried out.

He made the point that it is absurd for a candidate who insisted he could only win in his zone to be protesting and demanding the annulment of the results in the places where he was soundly defeated.
“Over the past 48 hours, there have been numerous altered and modified result sheets on social media that favour the Social Democratic Party. These individuals are now coming to equity with unclean hands, having overwritten the original results. They are already composing writings to persuade them to hire their ethnocentric Senior Advocate of Nigeria for Tribunal matters.
“They will find it easy to forget their recent experience where the Supreme Court questioned his legal expertise, since we have sufficient proof to show that the Social Democratic Party’s ethnically-focused candidate didn’t really score as high as was recorded for him at gunpoint. We’ll be prepared for any legal action.
We express our gratitude to the people of Kogi Central for their massive turnout in support of the All Progressives Congress’s supremacy in Kogi State. We had an enormous turnout for our Kogi Central event, so the large turnout is not surprising. Voter turnout demonstrated that the rally crowd was real. We shall always be appreciative of you.
Despite the fact that three parties nominated candidates from the zone, the All Progressives Congress won six of the seven Local Government Areas in the Kogi West Senatorial District. Your fervent support for the All Progressives Congress and your high participation demonstrated your belief in a flourishing, united state where candidates are chosen on the basis of merit rather than race. Your voices are strong and distinct.
“Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the incoming governor, won’t let you down. With his exploits in every economic sector, Governor Yahaya Bello has made it simple for the All Progressives Congress to win elections in Kogi,” he continued.
