Kogi forms committee to promote open government partnership

The steering committee on the Open Government Partnership has been inaugurated by the Kogi State government in order to enhance citizens’ involvement in governance.

Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, who led the inauguration, emphasized that transparency and accountability have been key aspects of the previous administration’s governance for the past eight years.

Ayoade further explained that the Open Government Partnership is a global initiative aimed at securing commitments from national and sub-national governments to promote open government, empower citizens, combat corruption, and utilize new technologies to strengthen governance.

She highlighted that this program will position Kogi State on the global stage in terms of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.

Ayoade also emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and the appointment of individuals at all levels of government to enhance citizen involvement.

The involvement of civil society organizations in this initiative will further ensure effective citizen participation and accountability.

Ayoade urged all committee members to join this global initiative for the growth and prosperity of Kogi State.
