Minister Nyesom Wike of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has granted permission to the area councils in the nation’s capital to demolish unfinished structures.
This announcement was made by Wike during a town hall meeting with stakeholders in the Gwagwalada area council.
The purpose of the demolition is to eradicate the uncompleted structures that criminals are utilizing as hideouts and safe havens. Wike emphasized the urgency of the matter, instructing the chairman to bring the necessary letter for his approval by Monday.
He also highlighted the recent arrest of kidnappers’ informants in the FCT, which has contributed to the growing concerns over security in the region.
It is worth noting that an Abuja community experienced heightened tension due to the killing of three out of ten kidnapped victims, as a result of the delay in paying a ransom of over N700 million.
