Information surfaced that police inspectors, along with their ammunition-filled Ak-47 rifles, had been abducted.
The victims were among the six mobile police officers on duty at the time, according to a Vanguard report.
A senior security source affiliated with the Delta State Police command verified the event, despite the fact that DSP Edafe Bright, the public relations officer for the Delta State Police, was unable to authenticate it or respond to a text message that was given to him.
The Ohoro village in Ughelli North local government area sent six security men, including the three mobile policemen, to the Ughelli-Patani road nipping point. This information was provided by a senior security source.
“While they were at the nipping point, a young guy from the Uwheru Community named Moses Progress, 22, approached them to let them know that, while engaging in ceremonies to the river deity, he was robbed of his OPPO phone and money by suspected Fulani herdsmen under a nearby bridge.
“The team leader must assign the three Inspectors to accompany the complaint to the location while carrying AK-47 rifles.
“They noticed the complainant on top of a motorbike without our men while they were waiting for them to return. He was stopped and asked about the three mobile police officers who were with him.
He informed them that six Fulani herders had assaulted them at the bush when they arrived, and he had to flee while the police officers scattered in all directions.
“After they called back, there was nothing to do but arrest him when he admitted to our men that he did not know where the other police officers had gone.
“A team of anti-robbery and half unit of PMF 51 from Oghara visited the scene, but all attempts to rescue them were unsuccessful.” The unidentified top security source disclosed.
