Kidnapped priest in Kogino murdered by gunmen after ransom is paid
Kogi State kidnappers killed Pastor David Musa of the Evangelical Church Winning All, or ECWA.
The gunmen reportedly wanted N1 million in ransom from his family, leading to his death on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday am, the social media site of the church announced the news of his murder. “I write to inform you that our brother, Pastor Musa David, was killed last night by his abductors after they demanded a ransom of one million naira,” the brief letter says, “with a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of God.” During this difficult time, may our prayers be with the DCC, the family, and the Church.
As the Kogi State governorship race was heating up, word of the victim’s kidnapping came on Saturday, November 11. Around the Obajana region, he was allegedly kidnapped.
At ECWA Bishara, Ajaokuta, Pastor David formerly served as its director. Panic among his flock and the state at large has increased following his horrific murder.
You may remember that the Kabba Road, which connects Lokoja and Obajana, has been dangerous lately. Individuals are being kidnapped and forced to die young by armed individuals who have been active on the road.
26 persons, including an army major, were led into the bush near Aiyegunle Igun in September and travelled a short distance to Kabba town. A week into their confinement, some of them managed to gain their release. It remains unclear what became of the others.
As the gunmen took control of the route on Sunday, a few individuals barely managed to avoid being kidnapped.
