Kidnapped Kaduna Journalists and Families Regain Freedom

Kidnapped journalists and their families in Kaduna have regained their freedom. Read about their release and the efforts to secure their safety. 

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council declared on Saturday that the journalists and their families who were abducted on July 6 have been released. Asma’u Halilu, the council’s Chairman, revealed that the journalists and their families were forcefully taken from their residences by suspected kidnappers around 10:30 PM on July 6. Halilu expressed, “Our colleagues Abdulgafar Alabelewe, Abduraheem Aodu, and their families have been set free by the grace of God Almighty.”

The Council conveyed their profound appreciation to the Kaduna State Command’s Commissioner of Police, the National Security Adviser’s office, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector General of Police, the Kaduna State Government, the NUJ President, and all Nigerians who provided support through prayers during this difficult time.

Halilu further mentioned, “We will soon announce the date for their return to Kaduna so that we can reunite, rejoice, and express gratitude to God together.”.
