Four captives taken by bandits in Sabon Birni village in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi on Monday were freed by Nigerian Army troops and local vigilantes.

In Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, Malam Yahaya Sarki, Special Advisor on Media and Publicity to Governor Nasir Idris, announced that the three male and one female hostages had been rescued in good condition and were back with their families.
On Monday, vigilantes and soldiers from 1 Battalion, Dukku Barracks, Birnin, Kebbi, stormed Sabon Birni village in Shanga LGA, Kebbi State.
The group demolished the bandits’ camp in addition to forcing them to retreat and neutralise them.
Among the things found were three AK-47 weapons with magazines installed, three spare magazines, 142 rounds of ammo, and pairs of military uniforms.
He said, “The brave soldiers freed four hostages, Alhaji Hakimi Rumbu, Amina Dikko, and Alhaji Abdullahi from Sangara village in Shanga LGA, as well as Bello Abdullahi from Tungan Namuna in Koko/Besse LGA.
Sarki praised the brave soldiers and reaffirmed the government’s unshakable commitment to aiding the state’s security institutions.
