Armed bandits in Kebbi abducted a district head, killing one person and leaving three others injured. Find out more about the violent attack.
On Saturday, armed bandits launched an attack on Kanya village in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, abducting both the district head Isah Daya and eight other villagers.
The bandits also claimed the life of one individual and injured three others during the raid.
Nafiu Abubakar, the police spokesperson in Kebbi State, confirmed the attack and identified Sherrif Alhaji Almu as the deceased.

He mentioned that a joint security team, headed by the police, has been dispatched to search for the abductors with the goal of rescuing those kidnapped, including the monarch.
Abubakar also mentioned that the Kebbi State Government has supplied essential logistical support to address banditry in the region, especially in Kebbi South and Zuru Emirate, where these incidents have been increasing.
This attack took place mere days after bandits tragically killed the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area, underscoring the persistent security challenges in the state.
The authorities are ramping up their efforts to tackle the situation and bring peace back to the affected communities.
