“Buhari is a gentleman, not a criminal, and he does not collect money to merely serve the people. We are very satisfied with his service. It is time for all Nigerians to pardon him.”

Katsina State residents are pleading with Nigerians to absolve former President Muhammadu Buhari for any offenses he may have committed during his time in office.

On Monday, after eight years, Buhari transferred over power to Tinubu. The former leader of Nigeria himself had pleaded for absolution from the nation.

The recent appeal, however, was issued on Tuesday, after the Daura Emirate Council, led by the Emir of Daura, HRH Umar Umar, had organized a colorful Durbar festival and cultural display to greet him.

After eight years abroad, two residents, Lawal Ado and Umaru Yusuf, were overjoyed to welcome their son home.

In an interview with Channels Television, they described Buhari as a gentleman and a person without corruption who, in their opinion, had served Nigeria to the best of his ability.

“We are beyond thrilled that he has returned. You are aware that it is difficult to rule Nigeria. One should give thanks to Allah for a Nigerian leader who ruled for eight years and returned home safely and soundly. “Therefore, we give thanks to Allah for him and are ecstatic,” Lawal said.

“The reason we organized this Durbar for him is to demonstrate to him that his people are still with him and that we love him unconditionally.” What he has done, he has done, and he can’t finish the job, so we are pleading with Nigerians to absolve him if he has done anything inappropriate. Humanity applies to him.

“However, for the Jagaban, I am certain he can do the task. From what I have heard about him, I have faith in him.

Umaru, for his part, described the event as vibrant, stating, “We are delighted to welcome our son home after eight years of absence.

“Buhari is a gentleman, not a criminal, and he does not collect money to merely serve the people. We are very satisfied with his service. It is time for all Nigerians to pardon him.

“Mr. Tinubu is also a pleasant gentleman. I am confident that he will continue Buhari’s policies, as he is a very affable individual.”

The Durbar culminated at the renowned Kangiwa Square in the ancient city of Daura, Katsina North, which began on the main Daura Township Road.

The event was attended by notable figures including the newly sworn-in Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda; the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum; the Emir of Katsina, HRH Abdulmumini Usman; the former Chief of Staff to the former president, Ibrahim Gambari; the former Aviation Minister, Senator Hadi Sirika; the wife of the former president, Aisha Buhari; families, friends, and well-wishers, among others.

During the three-hour Durbar, horse riders from the five Daura Emirates of Baure, Daura, Mai’adua, and Sandamu, as well as Zango, were observed participating.
