The governor, who supported the “professional implementation” of the naira redesign strategy, had talks with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), bank management, security officials, and traditional leaders to figure out how to make life easier for the general populace.
The CBN had extended the deadline for the exchange of old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes from January 31 to February 10; however, the Supreme Court ruled that the Federal Government, the CBN, and commercial banks were not permitted to extend the deadline until the determination of a notice pertaining to the matter on February 15 had been made.
