Kano police confirm the arrest of fraudulent doctor

Police in Kano have detained Chidera Ugwu, a quack physician, on charges that she gave pills and injections to a pregnant adolescent, causing her to die.

In a statement signed by the state police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa stated that Ukasha Muhammad, a 19-year-old resident of Langel village in Tofa Local Government Area, allegedly got his sister Amina pregnant at the age of 19, and went to the fictitious doctor asking for assistance. This information was provided to the police by one Nura Balarabe.

According to the statement, Ugwu, a 24-year-old resident of Lanbum Banki in Tofa LGA, gave Amina the injection intended to end her pregnancy, instead it killed her.

After being taken into custody, the suspects admitted to the crime.

Following a police inquiry, it was discovered that the fictitious physician had reportedly been giving deadly injections to expectant mothers.

In addition, the police detained Yusuf Haruna, a well-known criminal who was suspected of killing an imam in Kano City’s Jakara areas.

The Imam, Malam Sani Mohammed Shuaibu, was allegedly stabbed in the back by the defendant, Yusuf Haruna, also known as Lagwatsani, who is eighteen years old, while he was doing ablution.

According to the statement, the Imam had earlier issued a warning to the suspect and his group to refrain from smoking Indian hemp near the mosque.

After being taken to Murtala Muhammad Hospital with serious injuries from the attack, the victim’s death was officially declared by medical professionals.

The defendant was taken into custody by the police after they prevented him from being lynched by an enraged mob.

Muhammad Usaini Gumel, the state’s commissioner of police, asked the public to exercise patience as the police looked into the incident.
