Kano has successfully eliminated refuse dumps, according to REMASAB MD
Kano has reportedly been practically cleared of the garbage dumps that had been strewn all over the state capital for many years, according to the Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB).
Alhaji Ahmadu Danzago, the Managing Director of the Board, made this announcement on Thursday while speaking to reporters in Kano.

Danzago claimed that the accomplishment was the result of the board’s persistent trash collecting efforts, which began when he took over as managing director in July 2023.
He claimed that the agency was able to clear piles of trash that had made the roadways nearly impassable from roughly thirty key thoroughfares during the exercise.
He stated that Koki, Jakara, Makwarari, Kwalwa, Mandawari, and Kwanar Gabari—areas where waste dumps had caused significant annoyance to city dwellers—were among the areas that profited from the operation.
“The residents of Kano State can attest to the fact that, before to our arrival, large waste dumps had almost taken over these and many other places in the state capital, causing environmental hazards and impeding traffic movement.
The managing director stated, “But upon taking over, we mobilised our staff and equipment and significantly cleared the filths and restored sanity in those areas, giving the residents some relief.”
He claimed that the exercise, which is ongoing 24/7, has already removed thousands of tonnes of trash from the impacted areas.
In an effort to remove Kano’s trash dumps, which have been an annoyance to both locals and tourists, Danzago stated, “Our staff and equipment are working 24/7.”
