The state government of Kano has lifted the 24-hour curfew, that was in place temporarily for five hours.
On Friday, Isa Dederi – the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice announced that the curfew will be lifted between 12 noon to 5 pm.
According to Dederi, the purpose of easing the curfew is to allow Muslim worshippers to participate in Juma’at prayers before resuming at 5 pm.
In response to violent protests against bad governance that led to loss of lives and property, Governor Abba Yusuf declared a 24-hour curfew on Thursday evening.

Therefore, this decision was taken in compliance with the aforementioned action by the governor.
