Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf celebrated the start of the 2024 legal year in the state on Thursday alongside notable legal luminaries.
The governor announced this and vowed to maintain the judiciary’s independence in a post on his verified X handle.

“Earlier today, I had the honour of being among legal luminaries to celebrate the beginning of the 2024 legal year in Kano State,” he stated.
I took advantage of the chance to thank the learned silks for their vital role in upholding justice and sanity in our beloved state.
“I further promised that we will always be dedicated to safeguarding the autonomy and standing of the Kano judiciary. – AKY”
According to Obasanjo News24, the state’s legal year officially begins the day after the Supreme Court rules on the Kano governorship issue.
In the appeal filed by Governor Yusuf, contesting the decisions of the Kano gubernatorial tribunal and the Court of Appeal, which proclaimed All Progressives Congress candidate Yusuf Gawuna the victor of the March 18 governorship election, the Supreme Court set Friday as the day of judgement.
