The Kano State Government has officially lodged an eight-count charge against former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, as well as seven others, which includes his wife Hafsat and son Umar.

These charges are related to various financial crimes, such as accepting $200,000 from a contractor and misappropriating funds that were specifically allocated for the purchase of face masks and hospital equipment.

The charge sheet was filed before the Kano High Court, and it states that these actions are in violation of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Commission Commission Law of 2008.

Among the other defendants in this case are Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lesaga General Enterprises.

Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration has also accused Ganduje of receiving a kickback of $210,000 from individuals and entities involved in Kano State Government contracts and projects, specifically for the remodeling of the Kantin Kwari textile market.

These allegations have been strongly denied by Ganduje and his associates, who believe that they are merely an attempt to tarnish the former governor’s reputation.

The charges listed in the charge sheet include official corruption, criminal conspiracy, and breach of trust.

If found guilty, Abdullahi Ganduje, who is currently the All Progressives Congress National Chairman, could face severe penalties as per the laws governing financial misconduct in Kano State.
