Emir Aminu Ado Bayero rejects the Appeal Court judgment on the Kano Emirship dispute, vows to challenge the ruling at the Supreme Court in pursuit of justice.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero has rejected the Appeal Court’s decision to overturn a Federal High Court order that had removed Muhammadu Sanusi II from his position as the 16th Emir of Kano.

On Sunday, Bayero announced his decision to take the matter to the Supreme Court in order to challenge the verdict from the appeal court.

During a discussion with journalists at the Nasarawa Palace of the 15th Emir Of Kano, Sarkin Dawaki Babba Aminu Babba DanAgundi—who filed the lawsuit dismissed by the Appeal Court—remarked that Sanusi does not seem to grasp that he has entirely lost in all of his legal battles.

DanAgundi also cautioned Sanusi against presenting himself as the Emir of Kano.

The claim that Muhammadu Sanusi II’s victory was upheld was incorrect. The court stated that the Federal High Court lacks jurisdiction over chieftaincy matters. However, our legal action addressed a different issue altogether.

He added, “The State Assembly did not adhere to the proper procedures when repealing the laws.”

He requested that the Police and the DSS prevent Sanusi from reportedly associating with thugs, accusing the Emir of intending to disturb peace in Kano.

He stated that Sanusi will wait for the Supreme Court’s judgment before declaring victory.

The Attorney General and the Speaker of the Kano State Assembly filed a court case to prevent Bayero from presenting himself as Emir. However, the Appeal Court dismissed their claim, stating that Bayero had not been given a fair hearing.

This clearly demonstrates that Bayero remains the Emir of Kano.
