The 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, expressed his understanding of the discontent felt by Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and other deposed emirs.
Sanusi mentioned that they are hurt because they can no longer enjoy the privileges they once had as emirs. Both Sanusi and Bayero are asserting their claims to the throne of the Kano Emirate.
Sanusi emphasized that the root of the issue lies in the division caused by someone in the past, leading to certain individuals benefiting from privileges they did not seek but enjoyed for four years.
He highlighted that the problem does not stem from the recent events but rather from what occurred four years ago.
Sanusi stressed the unity of the family and people, pointing out the division that occurred within the family, resulting in the allocation of one emirate to a specific part of the family.
The recent court ruling awarded N10 million compensation to Bayero for his arrest and eviction from the palace. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had dethroned Ado Bayero and instructed him to relinquish power within 48 hours.
