The House of Assembly will vote on a N24 billion supplemental budget for 2023 that Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has offered.
Speaker Alhaji Ismail Falgore read the budget to the assembly on Tuesday in Kano.
“It gives me great honour to present the Kano State proposed 2023 second Supplementary Budget/Amendment bill to the Honourable House for consideration and eventual adoption, in accordance with section 122 (A) & (B) of the 1999 constitution.
Honourable Speaker, the second proposed supplemental budget and amendments for 2023 are required for several obvious reasons, including increased IGR and anticipated collections from the FAAC in the form of statutory revenue, VAT, ecological funds, E.M.T.L., and loans from the CBN for Independent Power Projects (IPPs).
The second Supplementary Budget Amendment for 2023 is centred on the following areas in response to the aforementioned pressing needs and the strong desire to expedite the completion of certain emergency priority projects in the state.
“Capital expenditure supplementary N20 billion and personnel cost/settlement of gratuity N4 billion,” he stated.
The governor declared that the state’s 2023 budget had increased to N 350 billion with the addition of N58 billion and N24 billion to the original budget.
The supplementary/amendment budget for 2023 was unanimously committed to legislative action by the chamber.
In a similar vein, the house passed the 2024 appropriations measure without a second reading.
